Hey folks,
I have a writer friend who needs some information. I know I have some British friends on here, so I thought I could get her some info. She's an LJ friend too, so she'll be able to read your responses.

"Does anyone have any decent links to the history of Punk in England and a list to information about lower class British slang from the 1960s and 1970s?"

Thanks,
Ellen

I wrote this poem in college. I can't remember all of it. Here is what I remember off the top of my head.

They see the shell,
But hear not the sound.
Life whispers forth,
But she is hushed.
-Ellen Tevault-

I wish I could remember all of it, but that part still resonates with me. That's how I feel a lot.

I was wondering if someone could tell me how to short cuts within LJ, so I can use them during my author chat in a couple of days.

I hope to see some of you posting during my chat.

Any ideas for topics is also appreciated.

Thanks,
Ellen

Hey, folks,
I planned a fiction writing retreat for August 8th at a private residence. From 9-12 will be free writing time, while 1-4 will be set aside for critique pairings or groups, depending on how many people sign up. We haven't decide what we're doing for lunch - going out, ordering in, pitch-in.

This writing event is sponsored by Indy Writers Group.

Anyone who has been to a retreat of any kind I would love ideas for this.

If you live near Indy and would like to attend, let me know. If you haven't met a member of IWG before, someone will have to meet you ahead of time, since it is scheduled in a private residence.

If you like historical, Christian romances, you should check out my writer friend, Jamie Carie at her website http://www.jamiecarie.com/ for more information. For those of you in the south, she'll start touring at the end of July to promote her newest book, Love's First Light. She'll be visiting several bookstores in MS, GA, SC, and AL. If you go to one of her signings, tell her Ellen sent you. :-D

The spokesman known for his screaming sell for OxiClean and other products died. They think he died of head injuries. He was in a plane that had to do an emergency landing and he complained of getting hit in the head. His wife says he wasn't feeling well when he went to bed the night before.

Since they are saying Jackson's death is teaching about sudden cardiac arrest, then this should be the second example this year about the seriousness of head injuries.

Boy, this must be the beginning of the next set of threes.

The entertainment industry lost three celebrities this week. Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson.

This day will go down as a historic day losing two big icons - Farrah and Michael. They both have touched a lot of people's lives. My heart goes out to their families and friends. The people who knew them best.

Erotically Ellen interviewed Custom Erotica Source president.

My male alter ego, Fred Towers interviewed Richard Labonte about his recent Lammy.

Let me know what you think of these interviews.

Thanks,

WOW! The new Star Trek movie is great! There were parts of the movie that felt like it was 3D. The movie was so good that I'd recommend it to everyone. You don't have to be a Star Trek fan to like this movie.

Hancock is a good superhero movie. There was a twist to it that I didn't see coming. I like Will Smith in it. Charlize is hot and a great actress as usual. He played the character flawlessly. I didn't catch any of the anti-gay slurs that I heard were in this movie. Maybe I was too enthralled with the movie to be bumped by them.

Max Payne wasn't that great. I usually like Mark Wahberg, but he didn't seem to be on his game with this movie. Melissa said she thinks it was a weak script because there were too many good actors in it for it to be the acting. If you want a movie based on an anti-hero who revenges his family's death, I recommend the first Punisher movie. The second one sucked.

Gran Torino was another great movie. Despite all the racial slurs flying in this movie, it was surprisingly funny. One scene has Walt played by Clint Eastwood talking to himself about his Asian neighbors in a negative way, but at the same time the grandmother is sitting on her porch making racial slurs about him in her native tongue. It was so funny that they juxtaposed those two characters. Two elderly people from different worlds but the same time period. It showed how much alike they really were no matter what language they spoke. Melissa and I were cracking up. LOL This is considered a drama, but there are some great quiet moments. I definitely recommend this one.

The Grand was a funny movie, but I'm not sure everyone will like this one. I enjoyed it because I liked trying to figure out which professional poker player they were parodying. LOL Since I watch Poker After Dark, I loved seeing a lot of the pros cameo in this movie. If you remember Kotter from Welcome Back, Kotter, he played the father of a couple of the tournament pros. He's also a pro poker player who has played on Poker After Dark.

Bevery Hills Chihuahua was cute. I watched it with my elderly friend I grocery shop for her birthday. She loved it. I thought it was funny. Melissa thought it was predictable. Yeah, it was, but still this is one of those movies you watch to just enjoy not to be surprised and awed by. It's a cute doggie lover movie that I recommend to dog lovers. :-)

I think that's all the movies I can think of that we've seen lately. Happy movie watching, folks!
