WOW! The new Star Trek movie is great! There were parts of the movie that felt like it was 3D. The movie was so good that I'd recommend it to everyone. You don't have to be a Star Trek fan to like this movie.
Hancock is a good superhero movie. There was a twist to it that I didn't see coming. I like Will Smith in it. Charlize is hot and a great actress as usual. He played the character flawlessly. I didn't catch any of the anti-gay slurs that I heard were in this movie. Maybe I was too enthralled with the movie to be bumped by them.
Max Payne wasn't that great. I usually like Mark Wahberg, but he didn't seem to be on his game with this movie. Melissa said she thinks it was a weak script because there were too many good actors in it for it to be the acting. If you want a movie based on an anti-hero who revenges his family's death, I recommend the first Punisher movie. The second one sucked.
Gran Torino was another great movie. Despite all the racial slurs flying in this movie, it was surprisingly funny. One scene has Walt played by Clint Eastwood talking to himself about his Asian neighbors in a negative way, but at the same time the grandmother is sitting on her porch making racial slurs about him in her native tongue. It was so funny that they juxtaposed those two characters. Two elderly people from different worlds but the same time period. It showed how much alike they really were no matter what language they spoke. Melissa and I were cracking up. LOL This is considered a drama, but there are some great quiet moments. I definitely recommend this one.
The Grand was a funny movie, but I'm not sure everyone will like this one. I enjoyed it because I liked trying to figure out which professional poker player they were parodying. LOL Since I watch Poker After Dark, I loved seeing a lot of the pros cameo in this movie. If you remember Kotter from Welcome Back, Kotter, he played the father of a couple of the tournament pros. He's also a pro poker player who has played on Poker After Dark.
Bevery Hills Chihuahua was cute. I watched it with my elderly friend I grocery shop for her birthday. She loved it. I thought it was funny. Melissa thought it was predictable. Yeah, it was, but still this is one of those movies you watch to just enjoy not to be surprised and awed by. It's a cute doggie lover movie that I recommend to dog lovers. :-)
I think that's all the movies I can think of that we've seen lately. Happy movie watching, folks!
